I love telling stories.
It’s something that has always been important in my family. Growing up it was something to be proud of, having a good story to tell; one that keeps people interested and leaves them wanting more. In my work, I try my best to keep this all in mind. Whether it be an illustration, branding, packaging, or anything else, I try to tell a story with my art. I believe that doing so is the best way, the only way, to make sure one’s work is the best it can be. Work that is not narrative has never made sense to me; there always has to be a story. Through working hard to keep a story alive within my art, I feel that my pieces can sustain themselves. I don’t need to explain them, or tell a story to accompany them; they are all designed to tell one on their own. Whatever materials I work with, they become a vehicle for storytelling.
I love solving problems.
Thinking a problem through and coming up with a visual solution is something that I never get tired of. I feel that the approach to my artwork as a form of problem solving allows me to use that art as an outlet for my need to think, obsess, analyze, and perfect things.
I love my art.
I work on my art in order to tell stories; to satisfy my needs to think, obsess, and solve problems; to make things that will leave an impact on people; to channel my thoughts in a way I sometimes can’t with words. I love working on my art because it allows me to help others do those same things.
